Statement from Michigan AFL-CIO President Ron Bieber on Biden’s Third State of the Union Address
LANSING, Mich. – On Thursday, President Joe Biden delivered his third State of the Union address, highlighting the work the Biden-Harris administration has done to deliver for working people and champion the labor movement. In response, Michigan AFL-CIO President Ron BIEBER issued the following statement:
“The state of the union is union strong. Joe Biden has delivered time and again on his promises to working people and there’s no better place to look than Michigan to see the results. President Biden secured billions of dollars for Michigan infrastructure projects that will support good-paying union jobs. His administration has been a fierce ally as we fought and won historic workers’ rights victories this past year. And when auto workers were fighting for their dignity, Joe Biden came here, to the heart of the American labor movement, to stand on the picket line. Union members everywhere, but especially here in Michigan, understand just how far we’ve come in the last four years, and that all of that progress is on the line in November.”
The Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan’s largest labor organization, is a federation representing forty different labor organizations, eighteen different central labor councils, and eight constituency groups representing over 1 million union members and their families.
