Michigan AFL-CIO Endorses Kristen McDonald Rivet for Michigan’s 8th Congressional District
LANSING, Mich. – Today, the Michigan AFL-CIO announced its endorsement of state Senator Kristen McDonald Rivet in her campaign for U.S. House in Michigan’s 8th Congressional District. The race to fill the seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee, who is not seeking re-election, is likely to be one of the most competitive in the nation this November.
“Kristen has proven herself to Michigan workers,” said Michigan AFL-CIO President Ron BIEBER. “Her record speaks for itself. Kristen came to Lansing and immediately delivered for Michigan families, leading the passage of one of the largest tax cuts for working people in generations. In Congress, Kristen will continue to put working people before politics and stand up for our fundamental freedoms. As the state’s largest federation of labor unions, the Michigan AFL-CIO is proud to endorse her.”
“I am honored to have the support of the Michigan AFL-CIO,” said McDONALD RIVET. “My life’s work has centered around uplifting Michigan families. Together, we will win this election and deliver meaningful results on jobs, wages, and lowered costs, so it is just a little easier for those willing to work hard to achieve the Michigan Dream.”
The Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan’s largest labor organization, is a federation representing forty different labor organizations, eighteen different central labor councils, and eight constituency groups representing over 1 million union members and their families.
