BATTLE CREEK, MI – Senator Bernie Sanders will join BCTGM Local 3G members in Battle Creek, home of Kellogg’s corporate headquarters, this Friday to rally in support of the Kellogg workers on strike.
Just last week 1,400 BCTGM members in Michigan, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Nebraska rejected a tentative agreement, continuing their strike through the holidays. Kellogg’s announcement of their plans to permanently replace striking workers resulted in an outpouring of support and solidarity from all reaches of the country including President Biden, who released a statement condemning the company’s decisions.
“After weeks of negotiations, BCTGM members made the decision to continue their strike against Kellogg until their demands for a fair contract are met,” said Ron BIEBER, President of the Michigan AFL-CIO. “The outpouring of support and solidarity for striking BCTGM members has been nothing short of amazing. This Friday we will join striking members, Senator Sanders, and the public in solidarity and continue to demand Kellogg negotiate in good faith and return to the bargaining table as soon as possible.”
“BCTGM members made their voices heard and their priorities known when they voted no on the tentative agreement last week,” said Trevor BIDELMAN, President of BCTGM Local 3G. “On Friday we will come together with our neighbors, family and friends and ensure that Kellogg understands we are not backing down until we receive a FAIR contract.”
