JACKSON, MI – The Michigan Workforce Development Institute (WDI) has received a $50,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation supporting Jackson County’s Access for All program, a free pre-apprenticeship training program that creates a pipeline for underserved and minority communities into building trades and construction careers.
Jackson County’s Access for All program will prepare individuals to enter and succeed in a registered apprenticeship program by providing them with supportive services, curriculum and training aimed at high-demand careers.
“2021 was a year of exponential growth for Michigan WDI, and with the addition of the Consumers Energy Foundation’s funding 2022 is looking just as bright,” said Cheryl Sanford, Chief Executive Officer of Michigan WDI. “Jackson County is a new frontier for our Access for All program, and with this funding, we will be able to remove barriers for underserved and minority communities, train the apprentices and journeyworkers of tomorrow, and continue our organization’s expansion of apprenticeship readiness and apprenticeship training programs.”
