LANSING, MI — The Michigan AFL-CIO released the following statements on Chedrick Greene’s drubbing of Republican Jason Tunney. Chedrick Greene’s campaign was endorsed by 20+ labor bodies representing workers of all types and trades across mid-Michigan.
“As a 31-year union member, Chedrick Greene knows what it means to show up for work every day and get the job done — and that’s what he’ll do for workers in Lansing,” said Ron BIEBER, president of the Michigan AFL-CIO. “Chedrick Greene’s background as a marine combat veteran and fire captain for the City of Saginaw will serve him well in his fight to put workers first.”
“Chedrick Greene’s victory is a testament to his unwavering dedication to this region and the people who reside here,” said Angie MILLER, president of the Mid-Michigan Area Labor Council and lifelong resident of Saginaw County. “Having spent over 30 years protecting our country as a Marine and the City of Saginaw as a firefighter, we look forward to witnessing the same courage and commitment from him in Lansing fighting for worker and economic justice.”
The Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan’s largest labor organization, is a federation representing forty different labor organizations, eighteen different central labor councils, and eight constituency groups representing over 1 million union members and their families.
