GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Today the Michigan AFL-CIO announced its formal endorsement of Hillary Scholten for U.S. House of Representatives in Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District following a vote of the General Board, representing over 1 million union members and retirees.
“Michigan’s working families need elected officials that will have our back, and that’s why the Michigan AFL-CIO is proud to announce our endorsement of Hillary Scholten for Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District,” said Ron BIEBER, President of the Michigan AFL-CIO. “Hillary will be a true champion of working people in the halls of Congress, and the labor movement will do everything we can to get her there.”

I’ve fought for working men and women throughout my entire career, representing people who faced discrimination, harassment, or unsafe working conditions,” said Hillary SCHOLTEN, Candidate for U.S. House of Representatives, MI-03. “In Congress, you can count on me to be a strong voice for workers’ rights, and for an economy that works for everyone.”
Hillary has a long track record of public service, beginning with her time as a social worker helping individuals facing homelessness and then as an attorney working with the U.S. Department of Justice. Hillary is a lifelong Michigander, whose experience as a public interest attorney and work within her community makes her the best candidate for Michigan’s 3rd congressional district.
The Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan’s largest labor organization, is a federation representing forty different labor organizations, eighteen different central labor councils, and eight constituency groups representing over 1 million union members and their families.
