FLINT, MI – Today the Michigan AFL-CIO is proud to announce its endorsement of Dan Kildee in Michigan’s 8th Congressional District. The formal endorsement was approved by a vote of the General Board, representing over 1 million union members and retirees.
“Congressman Kildee has represented Michigan in Washington, D.C. for nearly a decade and has always put Michigan’s working families first,” said Ron BIEBER, President of the Michigan AFL-CIO. “Dan is a lifelong Michigander, and his track record proves he can work with folks in any political party to ensure meaningful progress for his district.”
Congressman Kildee has represented his hometown of Flint, Michigan since 2013 and has spent his tenure focusing on the kitchen table issues like good-paying jobs, fixing Michigan’s roads, and guaranteeing clean and affordable drinking water for all Michiganders. During the Flint water crisis, Dan garnered bipartisan support and secured over $100 million in federal funding to help replace lead pipes and expand healthcare to residents in need.
“I am grateful for the support of the Michigan AFL-CIO and their over one million active and retired members across the state,” said Congressman Dan KILDEE. “The fight for the dignity of work continues and I will always support workers as they seek to collectively bargain to improve their wages, benefits and workplace conditions.”
The Michigan AFL-CIO, Michigan’s largest labor organization, is a federation representing forty different labor organizations, eighteen different central labor councils, and eight constituency groups representing over 1 million union members and their families.
