Techs vote 92% YES to join Michigan Nurses Association
LANSING – Today the Michigan AFL-CIO congratulated techs at the U.P. Health System – Marquette on an overwhelming UNION YES vote. The workers voted 159-13 to join nurses at the hospital as members of the Michigan Nurses Association.
This is the third Upper Peninsula healthcare facility where workers have voted to unionize with the Michigan Nurses Association since the start of the pandemic.
“As we continue to make progress on beating back COVID-19, workers across this state are demanding dignity, respect, and a voice in the workplace,” said Ron Bieber, President of the Michigan AFL-CIO. “It’s great to be able to welcome 200 techs from UPHS Marquette to the Michigan Nurses Association today. Our unions brothers and sisters all over this state have been standing with the nurses at the hospital in their fight for a fair contract and we look forward to joining in solidarity at this employer as we work together to win fairer treatment and stronger health and safety protections for all workers.”
