LANSING, MI — The Michigan AFL-CIO released the following statement from President Ron Bieber regarding the testimony of fired federal workers at today’s state Senate Labor Committee hearing.
“This morning’s testimony is clear: DOGE is harming vulnerable Americans while wasting taxpayer money. It doesn’t sound like efficiency to me — it sounds like chaos, destruction, and cruelty,” said Ron BIEBER, president of the Michigan AFL-CIO. “To the federal workers who bravely testified today, thank you. By sharing your stories, you’ve shown that Trump and Elon Musk’s so-called ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ is a slash-and-burn effort designed to sow chaos, fear and distrust. To those we heard from today, and all those affected by this administration’s attacks, Michigan’s labor movement is with you. Whatever you need; whatever it takes.”
The labor movement and allies recently announced the formation of Rise Up: Federal Workers Legal Defense Network, a new project to connect federal workers whose rights have been violated by the Trump administration with free legal support.
