Union-Endorsed Candidates Win Key Primary Races Across Michigan

Candidates Endorsed by Michigan AFL-CIO Won 98 Percent of their Primary Elections

LANSING – The Michigan AFL-CIO issued the following statement today on the results of Tuesday’s primary election. Ninety-eight percent of the candidates who were endorsed by the Michigan AFL-CIO won their primary races.

“No one should ever underestimate the power of Michigan’s working men and women to make their voices heard at the ballot box,” said Ron Bieber, President of the Michigan AFL-CIO. “Yesterday working people won important primary victories in every corner of the state. The results speak for themselves, and the message should be clear – when candidates have the backs of working people, we’ll have their backs on Election Day.”

“Now the real work begins. Our members are ready to roll up their sleeves and do the hard work of talking to voters on the phones and at the doors about what’s at stake this November. Michigan’s labor unions are united and ready to fight like never before to make Hillary Clinton our next president, and elect a majority in the Michigan House that will finally stand up for working people.”
